THE
PERFECT BEACH TO READ JAMES BOND NOVELS
One
of the wonderful things about being an author and vagabond is that I
get to read a lot of books in beautiful places. I think that reading
on the beach, almost any beach (as long as there are no sewer issues
and I’ve got some shade), is one of the best things to do on the
planet. But I don’t think that any book will do for any beach.
Today I’d like to share three things I think make a beach perfect
for reading James Bond novels on.
- Service.
I
think if you are lounging on the perfect beach to read James Bond
novels then you are having drinks brought to you. Besides the fact
that having someone bring you ice cold drinks on the beach is
awesome, it also reminds you of the class structure. And what is more
British than that? James Bond is ordering caviar and champagne why
shouldn’t you enjoy a little bubbly on the beach.
- Secluded
There
should not be too many people, and definitely not normal ones. The
other people in your view should be very good looking, and if they
can’t be handsome, then let them be interesting. There is nothing
more annoying then a normal looking person jumping out at you once
you’ve been immersed in Ian Fleeming’s world of giants, hot
babes, and deformed characters.
- Clear water
The
water should be crystal clear. This way when you go in for a dip and
you think of the shark that Bond just evaded you can look around and
be sure there isn’t one sneaking up on you.
Those
are the three things that are most important to me when searching for
a beach to read James Bond novels on.
Do
you have a special author or genre you like to read on the beach?
Moby Dick in Maine? Sydney Rye in St. Thomas? Let me know what makes
the perfect reading beach for you?
