An Unexpected Romance
When I started writing in earnest when I was a teen, around the age of fifteen, the stories were almost all dark fantasy/horror. That seemed to be all my muse and I wanted to write. It was definitely what all the characters that came to me with their stories demanded I write. Ghosts, vampires, werewolves…you name it. The more the merrier!
For so long I thought that the darker tales were all I’d write because that’s what came to me—I never thought I’d write a romance story. Sure, in my darker books there’s a sprinkle of romance, but it isn’t a major part of the plot. I very much enjoy reading romance, whether it be urban fantasy or erotica or just plain sweet. But I never thought I’d write it.
So imagine my surprise when this past February a paranormal romance came to me, in the form of Arabella Pierce. Her story ended up being Ghosts of Kingston Cottage. I had the novella finished in March and sent in to publishers by April. I signed a contract at the beginning of May with Entangled Publishing. The story literally came out of nowhere when I was doing dishes one night! Now, I’m writing a sequel to it and have plans for at least two more books in that world of ghosts and psychics.
I have two pen names: October Weeks, which is my dark fantasy/horror name, and Libby Bishop, my romance writing name. The different names are so that when my fans buy my books they know exactly what they’re getting.
I love that my muse and my imagination are branching out into different genres. It keeps things fresh and lively, albeit a little crowded, in my mind. And the lighter romances balance the horror I write more often and more in depth. Kind of like a light in the darkness.
Wouldn’t have it any other way. Only wish I had more time to write!
Ghosts of Kingston Cottage
Release Date: 10/28
Genre: Ghosts, Paranormal Romance
Tagline: He wants proof only she can help him find.
She believes in ghosts.
Medium and paranormal investigator Arabella Pierce is sent with her crew to Kingston Cottage, a haunted Maine seafarer’s cottage on an isolated island, but for this investigation, her boss has stuck them with skeptical reporter Lucas Brown. Though he’s hot as they come, Arabella can’t trust a man whose sole job is to discredit her and the work she does. Not after what happened with the last few skeptics...
He believes in evidence.
But Lucas isn’t as skeptical as he seems—he wants the truth, no matter what that is. When the ghosts appear, he and Arabella must work together—in tight quarters—to convince the resident ghosts to move on before a storm strands the entire crew on the island. If Arabella can put aside her prejudices, she and Lucas just might have a shot at a lifetime.
