Hexed (The Witch Hunter #1)
by Michelle Krys
Publisher:: Delacorte Press
Released: June 10th 2014
Genre: Fiction- YA: Urban Fantasy with romance aspects
How I got it: NetGalley

It's Bring it On meets The Craft in this spellbinding witchy series debut.

A stolen book. A deadly plan. A destiny discovered.

If high school is all about social status, Indigo Blackwood has it made. Sure, her quirky mom owns an occult shop, and a nerd just won't stop trying to be her friend, but Indie is a popular cheerleader with a football-star boyfriend and a social circle powerful enough to ruin everyone at school. Who wouldn't want to be her?

Then a guy dies right before her eyes. And the dusty old family Bible her mom is freakishly possessive of is stolen. But when a frustratingly sexy stranger named Bishop enters Indie's world, she learns that her destiny involves a lot more than pom-poms and parties. If she doesn't get the Bible back, every witch on the planet will die. And that's seriously bad news for Indie, because according to Bishop, she's a witch too.

Suddenly forced into a centuries-old war between witches and sorcerers, Indie is about to uncover the many dark truths about her life—and a future unlike any she ever imagined on top of the cheer pyramid.

Reviews: Indie is your standard young woman she goes to school, has friends, is a cheerleader and dates a football player. Sure her mom is a bit quirky and runs an occult shop, but she hasn't let that stop her from climbing the social ladder. Being a witch on the other hand might just knock those rungs out from under her.
I liked Indie sure at first she had things a bit skewed, yet as the story progresses she figures out who is really her friend and what is real. Once all that is figured out is when Indigo really starts to shine. She is a very determined young woman.
Paige and Bishop are great supporting characters. Paige is Indie's nerdy next door neighbor, who part of me felt bad for. Indie pushed her away for years, then suddenly when her world falls apart she turns to Paige. Luckily Paige isn't the type to hold a grudge. Bishop is the tall, dark, and handsome warlock who is sent to help Indie figure out her powers and taunt her until she wants to smack him.
The plot has a lot of up's and down's, it's a bit of an emotional roll-a-coaster for both the characters and reader. I found myself feeling horrified, sad, and elated with the characters. Ms Krys created a wonderful world and filled it with great characters. She sucks you into this world and makes it so you don't want to leave. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.
